Dean Lake House is just .5 miles from historic Watkins Glen, home of the Watkins Glen International speedway, Watkins Glen state park, and dozens of shops and restaurants.    We are in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region!  There's something to do all year long!   Summer boating, fishing, and swimming.  Autumn colors.  Winter skiing - both downhill and cross country.  Hike the spectacular Watkins Glen state park with its waterfalls and glacier-carved canyons.  World class museums such as the Corning Glass Museum or the Glenn Curtis Aviation museum are nearby.  The quaint villages of Watkins Glen, Hammondsport, and Penn Yan are nearby.   Amish markets, evening dinner cruises, antiquing, visiting the Women's Suffrage Movement memorial in the place where it all started - Seneca Falls, a day trip to Niagara Falls, s'mores over the fire, a freshly caught fish on the grill - with some Finger Lakes wine.   Ahhh.... Or just take a deep breath and relax!  You're on 'lake time'!

8. New induction stove in kitchen uses electromagnetic fields for heating - no hot stove surface
9. Motion detector lighting on front porch, deck, sidewalk from front of home to the deck, and also on the dock
10. Solar lighting for the dock and the staircase from deck to lawn area
11. Deadbolt locks on front door and downstairs doors opening on to the deck.   Guests will be provided with their own code for the front door lock prior to checking in.

Dean Lake House sleeps 10.  Technically, it will hold more but the Village of Watkins Glen ordinances mandate a maximum of 10 people at a short-term rental.   We cannot permit any bookings for more than 10 guests.   Here's the breakout of sleeping arrangements:

1. 'Shelley's Sunrise' - the master bedroom upstairs.   This room features a king bed with new memory foam mattress.   This is the room we use when we stay at the house.    Private balcony faces the lake and provides remarkable sunrise views.   A great place to have a cup of coffee in the morning.   There is a mini split air conditioner in addition to the standard heating/air conditioning, a closet, larger dresser, and Roku smart TV.   There is a full bathroom on this level, though not attached to this bedroom.
2. 'Suzie's Secret Hideaway' - another upstairs bedroom with a double bed and new memory foam mattress.   This room also has beautiful lake views.  Full closet, dresser, min split air conditioner, makeup table with chair, and Roku smart TV.   This bedroom shares the full bathroom on this level.   Tucked away upstairs, Suzie likes this private area of the home.
3. 'Katharine's Cove' - on the main floor, it features a queen bed with new memory foam mattress.   This bedroom has an attached full bathroom - and is equipped with support bars if anyone in your group might need some extra stability in the bathroom.   This bedroom also has amazing lake views.   Full closet, dresser, and Roku smart TV.   Our friend Katharine makes this her headquarters when she stays.
4. 'Pat's Pad' - downstairs.   This room features a queen sofa bed with new mattress board and new memory foam mattress.   Again - amazing lake views.   Built in dresser.   Roku smart TV.   Clothes rack.   Some guests use this room as a den, but it is fully equipped as a bedroom and is very private.   This room has same-level access out to the deck and the hot tub.   There is a full bathroom downstairs, just steps away from 'Pat's Pad'.   Named for my nephew Pat who likes the privacy of this downstairs room - and can easily sneak out to use the hot tub at 2 a.m. without waking anyone up!
5. The library - main floor.   This room has a queen sofa bed with new mattress board and new memory foam mattress.   We provide some portable privacy screens to help make this sleeping area as private as possible.   Guests using this sleeping area would access the full upstairs bathroom at the top of the stairs.
6. The living room - main floor.    This room has a queen sofa bed with new mattress board and new memory foam mattress.   We provide some portable privacy screens to help make this sleeping area as private as possible.   Guests using this sleeping area would access the full upstairs bathroom at the top of the stairs.
7. Dean Lake House also provides a portable crib for infants.   This is normally stored in the main floor bedroom - 'Katharine's Cove' closet.
